‘Ukraine Issues 3,670 Visas To Nigerians In Three Years –’No fewer than 3,670 Nigerians, the majority of who are students received Ukraine visa between 2016 and the third quarter of 2018.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Valerii Alesandruk, disclosed this at the weekend while discussing the relationship between Nigeria and Ukraine.
The envoy, who expressed optimism of a better relationship between the two countries in the future, said the number of Nigerians who travelled to Ukraine increased by 45 percent in 2018.
He also put the number of Nigerians studying in the country at over 4,000, saying, “In 2016, we issued 600 visas to Nigerians going to Ukraine; in 2017, we issued 1,642. Among this number, we have 821 visas for those going to study in Ukraine.
“In the last 10 months of 2018, we have already issued 2,028 visas to Nigerians and among them, we have 1,193 student visas. Currently, we have more than 4,000 Nigerians studying various courses in different Ukrainian universities.”
According to him, Medicine and Information technology topped choice of courses studied by Nigerians, noting that the country was making effort to increase its admission capacity, so as to accommodate all genuine and qualified candidates.
