Police unveil 100 dedicated phone lines to tackle crime in Edo State.

The Edo State Police Command has unveiled 100 dedicated telephone lines to tackle crime in the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu said the dedicated telephone lines and boxes would cover all the 55 Police Divisional Headquarters, 10 Area Commands, six police posts and all other police formations in the state.

Odumosu said: “The stage is set for more effective and efficient policing, as policemen in the state under my watch. They will step up activities in the performance of their statutory duties, as stipulated in Section 4 of the Police Act and other extant laws.”

The commissioner declared that the police would be deployed to all nooks and crannies of the state to provide tight security for all and sundry.

He said this was necessary for the good people of Edo State to sleep, not only with their two eyes closed but also snore.

Odumosu, who assured that the police will provide quick response and prompt intervention to distress calls, warned that criminals will have no hiding place in the state to perpetuate their criminal acts.

He also promised to partner the judiciary to ensure that criminals are not only brought to justice but also ensure that they face the full wrath of the law.

He stressed that under his watch; the state will not be used as a transit camp or hibernating abode to criminals.

“I shall equally synergize with the judiciary to make sure that criminals are not only brought to justice promptly but ensure that the full weight of the law is brought on them to serve as deterrents to others,” he said.

The commissioner, who paraded 92 arrested suspects, disclosed that 110 of them were arrested during raid operations in criminal black spots and vulnerable points in the state.
