PDP, electoral body disagree on plot to relocate results collation venue.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the electoral umpire to relocate the venue of the exercise.
It claimed the commission was planning the act at the behest of AAC and some extraneous forces.
PDP chairman, Felix Obuah, said the party had it on good authority that INEC was allegedly “acceding to the demands of a political party and some forces hell-bent on scuttling the outcome of the March 9 election and setting the state on fire.”
But in a swift reaction, the electoral body refuted the allegation as Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said: “I can tell you categorically that there is no truth in that claim. INEC collation center in Rivers will not be moved. Please disregard the rumor.”
Furthermore, INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, while reacting to a petition by AAC’s candidate Biokpomabo Awara asking to stop the collation, reaffirmed next Tuesday for the exercise.
