Addressing reporters at the weekend, the Commander of the Special Task Force (STF), Major General Augustine Agundu, stated that they had acted on intelligence report to recover the vehicle. He added that the soldiers would empty the pond.
He assured the host community of its security provided the military keeps getting maximum cooperation.
Alkali retired from service August 7 this year and got missing while on transit from Abuja to Bauchi through Jos.
The military had said though the general was entitled to a driver and an orderly, but, however, decided to drive and travel alone.
Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu noted that the high-ranking officer was at liberty to travel anywhere without permission from the force.
“He is also likely to travel with or without his driver and/or his orderly,” Chukwu added.
