GGI wants INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu removed.
The Good Governance Initiative (GGI) has berated Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for conducting what it described as the worst elections in the history of Nigeria.
It particularly accused Yakubu of acting as an agent to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent polls, insisting that he skewed victory in favour of the party, insisting that he should be removed from office.
President of the group, Nnosike Nwosu, told reporters in Abuja yesterday that until the Electoral Act was amended to curtail loopholes in the process, the nation’s democracy would continue to suffer.
Speaking further, he described the current leadership of INEC as worse than that of the Maurice Iwu era, calling for institutional reforms at the commission.
