FG, Dangote Partner On Road Rehabilitation In Lagos

FG, Dangote Partner On Road Rehabilitation In Lagos Federal Government has disclosed plans to partner Dangote Group for the construction of roads in Lagos State.

  Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Bababtunde Fashola, disclosed this at the kick-off of renovation of 34-kilometer Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki-Ojota Expressway, which was built 40 years ago.
  He explained that the government entered into the partnership to improve the socio-economic lives of the people.
  He said the arrangement was made possible by Dangote’s belief and commitment to the ease of doing business initiatives in the country.
  Fashola also said that the present administration was laying a solid foundation for economic growth and prosperity, adding that the arrangement would generate opportunities for both skilled and unskilled labour.
  He described Dangote as a man who believes in investing enormous wealth here as home, and urged prayers for success of the partnership.
He also charged tanker and trailer drivers to exercise caution, while driving on the busy roads, as thousands of other road users have the rights of ways in the area.
  He enjoined the security agencies to refrain from collecting illegal fees from drivers, but partner them for seamless flow of traffic, especially during this ember month season.
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, disclosed that the partnership was a laudable to usher in significant infrastructural development in the state.
  He added that the financing was coming from the organisation’s corporate taxes to Federal Government, adding that they have also reconstructed Wharf Road in Apapa, as part of their corporate social responsibility.
  Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, former Governor of Kano State and Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Senator Kabiru Gaya, and Senator Oluremi Tinubu attended the inauguration.
Others in attendance were the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, representative of the Oba of Lagos, Chairman, Truck Owners Association of Lagos, and Oluremi Ogungweyi.
