EFCC arrests 32 suspected Internet fraudsters in Ogun State.
The Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 32 suspected Internet fraudsters, otherwise known as “Yahoo-Yahoo Boys.”
EFCC’s Acting Spokesman, Tony Orilade, in a statement in Abuja, said the suspects were arrested at Liberty Estate, Laderin area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, in an early morning operation.
According to Orilade, the suspects, aged between 15 and 39 years, were taken by surprise when EFCC operatives swooped on them at one of their havens in the estate.
He maintained that 14 of them claimed to be undergraduates, while 18 others said they were self-employed in various vocations.
He added that their arrest followed a petition on their fraudulent activities, including Internet fraud.
“The suspects are helping the operatives with useful information and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” Orilade added.
