President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday cautioned Nigerians against voting for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, saying the country earned huge income from crude oil during their time but they killed the railway, roads and other infrastructure.
Speaking on power, he said PDP said the PDP government spent $16 billion on the sector, but there was nothing to show for it, stressing: “Do not make the mistake of voting any PDP candidates.”
On looted funds, he promised to follow due process to recover them from whoever stole the commonwealth of Nigerians.
“Compare what we have done in less than four years with the resources available and what the previous government did in 16 years and what was available to them,” he added.
He said the country was producing 2.1 million barrels of crude oil per day for 16 years, but there was no infrastructure on ground to show and promised to fix railway and the power sector to boost the nation’s economy for greater development.
The President, who almost forgot the Ajaokuta Steel Company that has been comatose and was reminded by Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello after his speech, promised to make the company workable to generate more employment for the people.
Responding, Oshiomhole said the PDP invented rigging, saying because they are now jittery, their campaigns have always been about rigging and fear that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will rig them out.
According to him, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, had spent millions to reverse results of the senatorial election in Adamawa State, while he was Vice President because he could not afford to lose in his home state.
“Professor Jibril Aminu is alive, he sent a congratulatory message to the winner, but because Atiku felt that he could not lose his own state, he paid hundreds of millions to the winners to accept defeat,” he said.
Speaking, Bello said the choice was between good and bad, between President Buhari and looters, Buhari and the liars and between Buhari and all others.
Meanwhile, wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, charged party members to ensure that they turn out to vote en masse and ensure that their votes are counted.
She stated this at a town hall meeting with Northeast APC women and youths at a town hall meeting in Bauchi State.
Aisha reminded the women of achievements of the Buhari administration in the last three years, citing N-Power, TraderMoni and Anchor Borrower programmes and their positive impacts on Nigerians.
