Agbami Parties Donate Laboratory To School In Yobe State – Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited and its parties in the Agbami field have donated a modern science laboratory complex to Government Secondary School, Damaturu, Yobe State.
The parties to the Chevron company include the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Famfa Oil Limited, Statoil Nigeria Limited, and Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited.
They said the gesture was a step specifically aimed at boosting science education in the troubled region as well as encouraging children to go to school.
Director, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, Richard Kennedy, said that “the laboratory reflects the determination of the Agbami parties to help improve the availability and affordability of quality education to Nigerians.”
Kennedy was represented by Mike Kabi, Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL).
The modern lab, which was handed over to the school in Abuja yesterday, is the 34th of such facility donated by the parties to various secondary schools across the country to stimulate students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe, who received the key to the facility, thanked the parties for the gesture, which he said aligned with his government’s commitment to delivering quality education to the people of the state.
The governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Wali,
Group General Manager of NAPIMS, Roland Ewubare, commended the parties for their commitment to improving the quality of education and healthcare in the society through the provision of infrastructure.
Ewubare, who was represented by the manager, Public Affairs, said that “NAPIMS believes that investment should not be about only profit but also people-driven.”
